Our Raw Raspberry Tarts won silver! Plus a 1-ingredient recipe for amazing vegan ice cream

We’re really pleased to announce that our Raw Raspberry Tarts won a silver award at the Free From Awards in London last night. We’d been shortlisted in the ‘Food to go’ category, which featured some well-known products from much bigger companies, so it was a fantastic endorsement for our lovely Raw Tarts, which are now being enjoyed further afield.

Liberty Loves Raw Banana Ice Cream with Raw TartWe were delighted with the judges’ comments too:

‘Really alternative! Chocolate and raspberry flavours are great and it looks dramatic. Very good balance – and filling!!’

It was a lovely evening. The ceremony was held at the Royal College of Physicians, and it was especially nice being able to celebrate with my friend and fellow West Country foodie, Christine from Christine’s Puddings, whose gingerbread biscuits won silver in their category.

The best (and easiest) recipe for raw banana ice cream

If you read last week’s blog you’ll know our tarts provide a great energy boost when you’re on the go (and now the experts agree!). But they also make a decadent dessert, particularly when paired with some rich, raw banana ice cream. It’s so easy, and only uses one ingredient! You can probably guess what that is…

You can make your own in 3 simple steps:

1. Peel and freeze a couple of bananas.

2. Once they’re frozen, pop them in the food processer and blitz for 2-and-a-half minutes. You’ll hear the sound change when it’s done.

3. Heap it into a bowl and crumble a raw tart of your choice on top.

Yum! If you fancy a chocolate hit, you can easily turn it into banana chocolate ice cream by adding a touch of raw cacao to the processor.

Sound good? Send us your pictures of the best dessert combinations!

Thank you!

Especially Cariad Wholefoods in Blandford Forum, a wonderful, independent health food store which stocks all kinds of organic foods and vegan goodies. Also Corfe Castle Village Stores who supply a range of fantastic local produce. Thank you for your support.

What’s happening at Liberty Loves HQ?

Once we’ve recovered from our achievements in London (celebrating vegan style!), we’ll be gearing up for our next two big events, starting with the Bournemouth & Poole Coeliac Food Fair on 29 April. The next day on 30 April we’re back in Dorset for the always fun Dorset Knob Throwing Festival, now at its new venue in Kingston Mauword. We’ll be there with a whole load of products and samples and would love to see you there.
